The evolution of U.S. airline competition
Article Abstract:
The deregulation of the airline industry led to the improved welfare of people who avail of airline services. However, since deregulation was first imposed in 1977 and 1978, the degree of enthusiasm for deregulation has somewhat fallen as industry leaders adopted unfair marketing strategies that did not contribute to efficient competition among domestic airlines. Policy-makers should look for ways by which efficient yet fair competition can be fostered among airlines.
