Troubles Never Come Singly
Article Abstract:
The Israeli government of Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir is faltering after its promising start. Israel's economic problems are worsening. Inflation may be as high as 300 per cent in 1984. Budget cuts are being proposed, which may result in eight to nine per cent unemployment. Few people have any savings left after the September stock market crash. The government policy in Lebanon is being criticized by the people. Dissatisfaction with the government is coming from within Shamir's own cabinet.

Was It a Plan or Did It Just Happen?
Article Abstract:
The question of whether air attacks on Syrian positions in Lebanon by Americans and Israelis were a coordinated effort or a coincidence is explored. Both the Americans and Israelis would like Lebanese President Gemayel to extend governmental power to the Shia Moslems and Druze. Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir is receiving criticism from within his party and from the opposition Labor party. Shamir is responding by opening doors to a potential alliance with the Labor Party.
