Sales of all types of goods used for water treatment, in the UK, are predicted to increase in value to 182.9 million pounds sterling in 2003, at 1998 prices, from 162.3 million pounds sterling in 1998. Water treatment appliances include plumbed-in softeners, plumbed-in filters, jug filters and replacement filters. Volume sales of jug filters have increased by a forecasted 75% during 1993-1998. Brita has the largest share of the jug water filters market at a predicted 58% in 1998. The value in sales of plumbed in water filters have only grown by an estimated 1% between 1996-98.
