Women in the economics profession
Article Abstract:
The academe began to evaluate its attitudes towards women in the 1970s with the emergence of the feminist revolution. The creation of the Committee on the Status of Women in the Economics Profession by the American Economic Assn. investigated discrimination against women in economics. Recent researches comparing the careers of male and female economists are presented.

Women in economics: moving up or falling off the academic career ladder?
Article Abstract:
The study considers whether the corresponding increases of women economists, that one might expect as women move up the academic career ladder, have occurred is described. The study finds that when compared with other academic disciplines, women in economics are less likely to get tenure and take longer to achieve it.
