A scholarly spine props up first draft of history
Article Abstract:
The criticism that academic publishers in the US have received as a result of their recent attempts to court a broader market than just academics and students is made in the light of the publication of "The Iraq War: A Military History" by Williamson Murray and Major General Robert H. Scales Jr by Harvard University Press. Some argue that the publication of The Iraq War so soon after the declared end of the war demonstrates that scholarly endeavour is being undermined. Others argue that The Iraq War does not pretend to be a complete history and, in more general terms, just because a book is published by an university press does not mean it has to be inaccessible or dull or unable to cross over into a more commercial market.

Why bigger is most definitely better
Article Abstract:
An analysis of the state of funding for universities in the United States and how the institutions with the largest endowments, such as Harvard University which has endowments in excess of US$17 bil, use their position to attract even more investors. It is suggested that while this situation is good for the larger, more powerful universities, it can be hard on the smaller universities that find it hard to raise large amounts of funding from their alumni.
