Assisted suicide: Its current legal status
Article Abstract:
The euthanasia movement was well-organized and well-positioned to influence societal change but it is not possible to legalize euthanasia throughout the United States. The right-to-die advocates argue that since doctors intentionally end their patients' lives it would be far better to legalize the practice so that there could be safeguards, but legalization of euthanasia would create an atmosphere in which acts that are currently criminal would be viewed as acceptable, which would imply grave risks for society.
