By the people, for the people
Article Abstract:
Our present notion of democracy was largely formed in the 19th and 20th centuries. Its main component is the citizen, who by their actions can choose representation. Decisions made in different countries do affect those elsewhere in the world, as do decisions made by bodies such as the EC. Some observers feel that a body similar to the UN would be best placed to make decisions which affect nations such as debt, international finance and loss of the ozone layer.

Beauty is in the eye of a Greek chisel holder: do we find certain people sexy because we have been unduly influenced by the anatomical preferences of a sculptor who has been dead for over 2,500 years?
Article Abstract:
Specific proportions for the human physique have traditionally been proposed by Western figure art which is in strong contrast to real-life human physiques. The traditional formulas date back to the Greek sculptor Polykleitos, and the German Nazi plan for state controlled breeding aimed for the German people to become fully Polykleitan within 120 years. Modern western men and women are therefore under selective pressure to choose Polykleitan mates.
