Sacking probe sparks academic freedom row
Article Abstract:
A new investigation has revealed fresh evidence relating to the sacking of Professor Lewis Lesley from his position as transport professor at Liverpool John Moores University in 2003 as a result of accusation of "gross misconduct". While an initial review by the university claimed that there was no evidence of abuse in the sacking of Lesley, he received almost UKPd100,000 in the summer of 2003 in settlement for an unfair dismissal claim. The new investigation calls into question the impartiality of the university's own investigation.
