English funding allocations 2004-05
Article Abstract:
Universities, general colleges, specialist institutions and further education colleges in England are listed alphabetically with details of the amount of funding the will receive from the funding councils for teaching and research in 2004-2005. Details are given for each university for total teaching funding and real-terms change, total research funding and real-terms change, moderation of teaching and research, total grant, total resource (including tuition fees), change adjusted for volume and change in total resource.

Financial literacy is the key to raising our game
Article Abstract:
An analysis of the "Accountability for Higher Education Institutions" consultation being undertaken between the Higher Education Funding Council for England and the country's educational institutions. The aim of the consultation is to reduce the burden and cost of regulation while preserving accountability. It is argued that the key to an essentially self-regulated system and the maintenance of good governance is a link between accountability and institutional accounting.

Article Abstract:
An analysis of the problems facing those in England who have to decide which university courses deserve to receive the most funding. It is contended that the best way to decide which course gets the most money is to let the market decide, allowing universities that claim to deliver a better quality product charge their students more for the privilege of studying there.
