Commonwealth Learning President Gajaraj Dhanarajan is very supportive of distance learning and has been involved in helping to facilitate distance learning projects in some Asian countries. He points out that distance learning will only succeed if local support is also provided. The Commonwealth of Learning is supported by the education ministers from the Commonwealth countries, who have promised funding of 2.4 million pounds sterling annually. Commonwealth Learning encourages Commonwealth countries to work together in educational technology and distance learning.

Software companies move in on HE market
Article Abstract:
A number of the major software companies are developing software programs for the higher education sector. They have realised the need for higher education establishments to cope with constant organisational changes and cut costs in their administration departments. The new software programs reduces time spent on organising admissions, timetabling and student finances. It can also be utilized by students to refer to their personal academic records and keep track of their own work.
