Food for thought: home ec and science teachers share expertise in a nutrition course
Article Abstract:
Tennessee schools have developed a nutrition science course which combines nutritional concepts with scientific studies. Knox County Schools, the University of Tennessee, the Tennessee Department of Education and W.K. Kellogg Foundation have teamed up to initiate the course, formulate the curriculum and provide training for the teaching teams composed of science and home economics teachers. Nutrition science teachers employ their own teaching methods and plan their classes to make the subject interesting. Expand applied academics
Article Abstract:
Vocational education constitutes the practical application of academic education and business educators are pioneering the integration of the two disciplines. Applied academics in vocational business education focused mainly on English and numerical application but the increasing demand for skilled graduates requires that other subjects be integrated as well. Business educators must respond by cooperating with each other and planning effective integration programs that will address these requirements and answer the challenge of the business world.
