Flying the flag for a stress-free campus
Article Abstract:
Some universities in the UK are adopting an holistic approach to their mental health services, embracing everything from one-stop health services to the creation of a relaxed environment in which to learn and teach. It is noted in a report by the Royal College of Psychiatrists that up to 25% of students suffer some form of emotional problem while they are at university, while lecturers' union Natfhe suggests that lecturers suffer higher stress levels than other professionals.

Trojan horse is a good bet for all
Article Abstract:
An examination of strategies to improve flexibility for disabled students and how this could benefit everybody. It is argued that as a result of developing more flexible learning and alternative forms of assessment for disabled students, universities could in fact create a learning environment where the learning experiences of all students are more flexible and subject to a greater degree of negotiation.

Freedom to steer their own course
Article Abstract:
The Learning and Skills Council is examining ways in which further education colleges in the United Kingdom could be set free from the restriction of having to have an university award the higher education qualifications they offer. Such a move would give the colleges more autonomy and could make them more responsive to employer and student needs.
