German rectors push fees charge
Article Abstract:
The plans to charge German students for further education are being developed by university rectors, even though most students and politicians are against the suggested changes. The fees plan is seen as a means of obtaining finance for the struggling institutions, and has been discussed by key employees at over 200 universities throughout Germany. Some believe that this strategy will encourage students to complete their degrees more quickly, although others think that the fees will force students to do more part-time work and will therefore lengthen the educational process.
