Identity crisis for the new generation of teachers
Article Abstract:
A study of student teachers found most respondents emphasized the importance of being able to communicate with their pupils, rather than having an in depth knowledge of a particular subject. The study found the students mostly supported the opening up of educational facilities to all pupils and they were against any type of selective criteria in schools. They wanted a curriculum which reflected the varying needs of pupils and did not only concentrate on developing their cognitive ability. Some 167 student teachers were questioned on their views of the future of education, in the UK.

Crisis in the exchange rate; why economists have failed to predict changes in the 'wealth of nations.'
Article Abstract:
Economics has failed to make accurate judgements on national economies since the middle of the last decade. It is argued that this is because the forecasting models used expect people to always behave in a rational way, and that this will automatically lead to a balance being maintained. This view of economic behaviour is now seen as belonging to the 19th century and in need of change.
