Listening and learning
Article Abstract:
The benefits of counselling need to be further researched. Making counselling a profession must not prevent the voluntary sector continuing to make their important contribution to the counselling service. A wide variety of professions could make use of having some counselling skills. Undergraduates could be offered courses in counselling, such as interviewing. University of Abertay, Dundee, Scotland, Professor of Counselling John McLeod points out counsellors are often older people who are chosen by clients in preference to younger counsellors.
