A way to grow home talent
Article Abstract:
The social and economic impact of an hybrid university campus on a town is examined using the Crichton University Campus, which began offering courses from its campus in Dumfries, Scotland, in 1998, as a case study. An independent economic impact assessment has revealed that the university has created an additional 192 full-time-equivalent jobs for the area, and this is forecast to grow to 324 in 2008. As a whole the Crichton site has created an additional 843 jobs, and this is expected to grow to over 2,500.
