Article Abstract:
An analysis of the impact of the brain drain that has blighted Africa for the last half century and efforts that are being made to rectify the situation. The International Organisation for Migration estimates that over 20,000 professionals/yr leave Africa and it is contended that the loss of each migrating professional represents an at least US$184,000 loss to the continent.

V-c raises his critical voice
Article Abstract:
The University of Cape Town's vice-chancellor, Njabulo Ndebele is voicing his criticism of what he considers to be South Africa's intellectually moribund, internally bickering and morally bankrupt ruling elite. He has called for a deeper understanding of problems such as corruption.

Inspite of black leaders in universities, the issue of racial splits still exists between black and white students in South Africa. Universities are recruting black academics to convince white students to change their minds.
