The danger of closed minds
Article Abstract:
An associate lecturer with the Open University (OU) explains the work the university does with prisoners and attempts to dispel some of the misunderstandings that have arisen in the UK about this work. It is noted that there are only 860 prisoners in England who are actually taking OU courses and it is argued that by providing prisoners with an education, they are actually reducing the risk that they will re-offend when they are released.
