Article Abstract:
Universities should create greater opportunities for students to meet in less formal situations, Craig McInnis, professor of higher education at Melbourne University, told delegates at the first Higher Education Academy annual conference. McInnis claimed that modern undergraduates were losing the informal learning opportunities that were enjoyed by previous generations of students because of increasing financial pressures that forced then to work when not studying and that universities need to take steps to address this.
