Passion will thaw those now frozen in low gear
Article Abstract:
An engineering student at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge University, suggests ways in which lecturers can raise the enthusiasm levels of their students. It is suggested that lecturers need to be enthusiastic about the subject themselves, that students must be given the opportunity and motive to learn, that a connection with the audience needs to be developed and that lecturers need to practice their lecture technique to make sure that their message is getting across.

Speak up, I'm doing some silent teaching
Article Abstract:
An analysis of how lecturers and teachers can use silence in their classrooms to try and encourage students to speak up and contribute to the lesson. It is suggested that students need to learn how to use silences in a class effectively to gather their thoughts and then contribute, while lecturers need to learn to give up the control that they have whilst talking and allow the students to participate more fully in the lesson.
