PhDs told to avoid too much teaching

John McKenzie, PhD researcher and teaching assistant at Aberdeen University's sociology department, has told a national postgraduate conference that postgraduates must resist pressure to take on a teaching load so heavy that it affects their research. The aim of the conference, according to McKenzie, was to allow students to make informed decisions about taking on teaching in addition to research.
