Play with your food, so long as you eat it
Article Abstract:
University teachers need to encourage students to become independent learners and seek out information for themselves, rather than simply spoon-feeding them everything that they will need for their assessments. The process of doing this can be difficult, with students not always approaching things in the way that the lecturer might have intended, but students should not necessarily be punished in their assessments for doing this and should instead, through projects, dissertations and by coming up with their own essay topics, be encouraged.

'The lecturer will strike a bargain. He will provide handouts and the term paper will require students to tell the lecturer what the handouts told them'
Article Abstract:
An analysis of the standard of university education in the United Kingdom. It is argued that diligent undergraduates can expect to get a 2.1 degree, but that the changing demands on university education mean that they will probably not learn how to lead their own intellectual life.
