Presidential farce costs over $3.6m
Article Abstract:
A culture of gamesmanship and expensive executive perks has been revealed at Boston University as details about succession to the presidency of the university have come to light. Daniel Goldin, a former space agency administrator, had initially been hired to take on the role of president from acting president John Silber, but doubts about Goldin's temperament emerged and the job offer was withdrawn, although Goldin was offered a US$1.8 mil severance package for the job he never held. Silber also resigned as chancellor of the university on the day the job offer to Goldin was withdrawn, and he stands to collect US$1.3 mil from the university in unused sabbaticals.
