Article Abstract:
Universities in the UK are singling out standards campaigners and union activists in an effort to silence dissent on campus, according to a number of motions made at the Association of University Teachers (AUT) annual conference in week commencing 25 April 2005. Jonathan Whitehead, policy head at the AUT, noted that the union will take every measure necessary to defend action taken against its local officers when that action is clearly not justified.
