Article Abstract:
An examination of the success of the projects run by a growing number of academics during the summer holiday period which are designed to widen participation in higher education. Robert Stewart, a 22-year-old who left school at the age of 17 with poor qualifications, is one of a number of people who have taken part in such schemes and moved on to get places at university.

Article Abstract:
Any analysis of the university clearing processes at Kingston and Wolverhampton Universities in mid-August 2004. Kingston estimates that it will fill between 800 and 1,000 places this year through the clearing process, while at Wolverhampton it is estimated that about 400 places will be filled this way.
