Funding hike tops inflation

Funding for research and teaching in universities and colleges in Scotland will increase by 5.3% to UKPd745 mil in 2004-2005. Edinburgh University is a key winner in the new funds allocation, seeing its research grant rise by over 11% to nearly UKPd48 mil in 2004-2005 from UKPd43 mil in 2003-2004.

Paisley plumps for new image
Article Abstract:
Paisley has become the latest university to seek a name change and has opted for the University of West Scotland. The motivation behind the change is that the university hopes to merge with Bell College in Hamilton and already has campuses in Dumfries and Ayr.
