Stung by Oddfather's funny turn
Article Abstract:
The admission in April 2003 by Vincent "the Chin" Gigante, a Mafia boss in the United States, that he duped psychiatric experts into believing that he was mentally unfit to stand trial has put the science of forensic psychiatry under the spotlight. In return for admitting that he feigned the symptoms that led a number of experts to declare that he was suffering from Alzheimer's disease, Gigante managed to secure the dropping of charges that he ran a number of dockside extortion rackets, as well as gaining more lenient sentences for family members facing other charges.

The return of the body snatchers
Article Abstract:
An examination of the shadowy trade in human bodies and body parts in the light of accusations that staff at the Medical School at the University of California, Los Angeles, have been involved in the illicit trafficking of bodies donated to science. It is pointed out that while the organ donation sector is tightly regulated, the cadaver donation market is much more lax, with little supervision of procedures and donors frequently signing agreements that do not specify what their remains can be used for.
