Article Abstract:
Al Aynsley-Green, national director for children's healthcare services in England, discusses children, childhood, child services and the perception of children in England. Aynsley-Green contends that, unlike southern Europe or Scandinavia, the English do not really value chidren, childhood or parenting and it is for this reason that children have had a low profile in the formation of government policy for the last 50 years.
