Article Abstract:
The merger of the Institute of United States Studies and the Institute of Latin American Studies (ILAS) to form the Institute for the Study of the Americas has the potential to allow scholars to explore comparisons and connections across North and South America. The new Institute will be headed by ILAS chief James Dunkerley, who is keen to point out the extensive connections between the US and Latin worlds, both historically and contemporaneously.
