This will really needle les Anglais
Article Abstract:
The Bayeux Tapestry, which depicts the defeat of Anglo-Saxon king Harold by William the Conqueror at the Battle of Hastings in 1066, has traditionally been thought to have been designed by the school of needlework in Canterbury, UK, and possibly even sewn there. George Beech, emeritus professor of medieval history at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, US, contends in his book "Was the Bayeux Tapestry Made in France?", which is due to be published in July 2005, that the tapestry was most likely designed and created in France.
