To craft a witch
Article Abstract:
In 1604, following a strange illness described by doctors as supernatural sufferings, Anne Gunter claimed that she had been bewitched by three women. The three women were tried and acquitted of witchcraft in Abingdon, however, Gunter's father Brian pursued the case and Anne later admitted that she had simulated symptoms of possession at her father's orders. Research into the events suggest that Anne Gunter may have been the victim of abuse.
