UCU split over equality brief
Article Abstract:
A row has broken out at the top of the newly formed University and College Union (UCU) after joint general secretary Sally Hunt had to cede control of quality issues to Paul Mackney, her male counterpart. Ms Hunt's supporters have said that the current internal 'jockeying for position' at the UCU was taking precedence over interests of ordinary members.

'Immature' students without basic English skills enrage Uclan staff
Article Abstract:
Academics at the University of Central Lancashire are displeased about the difficulties of teaching students with poor basic skills. They believe that international students admitted for the high fees they pay are 'immature' with very poor English language skills, making their work tougher and downgrading the experience of home students.
