Article Abstract:
An analysis of whether alcoholism is a growing problem amongst academics at universities in the UK. While academic life has traditionally had a culture of social drinking, modern academics are more likely to be solitary drinkers. Some blame the extreme pressure that the current culture of performance targets, increased administration and heavy workloads puts on academics for any rise in the level of alcohol problems.

Flexible working is good for morale and business

Universities in the U.K. are being encouraged to introduce flexible working arrangements for staff after studies revealed that this concept boosts morale and reduces stress, while also improving productivity.
