Article Abstract:
The Higher Education Funding Council for England has announced plans to increase funding for classroom-based teaching by 20% to UKPd3,400/full-time student next year and has done a U-turn on plans to reduce funding for media studies following criticism of the plans by leading industry figures. The additional money for classroom-based teaching will narrow the funding gap between classroom-based and laboratory-based subjects, but this is not expected to impact on the funding of laboratory-based subjects.
