Article Abstract:
The report of Sir Ron Dearing's committee of inquiry into higher education expected to be published on Jul. 23, 1997, will recommend that all students wishing to enter a recognised full-time higher education course be required to pay a fee of 1,200 pounds sterling/yr. Other recommendations will include greater selectivity in funding for research and the establishment of regional centres of research excellence for subject areas. The new Quality Assurance Agency for higher education will be called upon to develop a new national credit accumulation and transfer and qualifications framework.

College offers a one-year 'BA'

Issues concerning the offer of an MA humanities course by the MST College in London are discussed. It is emphasized that the college does not have the power to award degrees, it is mainly aimed at Jewish women and it accepts students without A level qualifications.
