A Stone Age mind-blower
Article Abstract:
Canadian-born proponent of evolutionary psychology Steven Pinker, professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, insists that he is not very different from other academics, despite having long hair and liking rock music. He derives considerable amusement from being voluntarily childless despite his belief that human beings' primary evolutionary purpose is to reproduce. Pinker argues that evolutionary psychology, which contends that evolution shaped humans' thoughts as well as their bodies, has implications for psychotherapy since anxiety and depression may have been programmed into people.

US state colleges in 'crisis'
Article Abstract:
State colleges of the United States are experiencing an increasing level of unrest because of poor finance, lack of direction and public criticism. Many corporate training centres, such as Motorola University, are claiming that their student training is superior and more appropriate than that provided by the public universities. Funding is low and fees have risen significantly over the last four years. Opinion polls show that most people feel that the universities do not provide good value for money.
