Article Abstract:
Glynis Breakwell, vice-chancellor at Bath University, has compiled a database of characteristics of university chiefs both past and present for the Leadeship Foundation. Professor Breakwell found that only a quarter of vice-chancellors in post between 1997 and 2006 had been undergraduates at Cambridge or Oxford and in the same period, only 20 women held posts as vice-chancellor.

Sussex v-c urged to quit in wake of chemistry axe row
Article Abstract:
Sussex University's vice-chancellor, Alasdair Smith, has faced rebellion from his council and calls for his resignation after he confirmed that he would abandon a controversial plan to axe chemistry. A new merged chemistry and biochemistry department will now be formed.
