Call for SA to scrap poor journals
Article Abstract:
There are too many low-quality academic journals in South Africa, according to a report by the Academy of Science of South Africa, and recommendations are that the number be reduced to between 30 and 50, from some 220. All journals should be subjected to regular quality assurance.

Different interpretations of historical evidence by contract medical historians raise questions about the credibility of commissioned histories which might be influenced by their sponsors. Sponsors and funding of particular works should be disclosed as part of peer review process.
