Surplus surfaces in Japan's international trade figures
Article Abstract:
International trade statistics for Feb 2000 has revealed Japan's first current-account surplus in 13 months. The figures, amounting to 1.474 trillion yen, represent an increase of 33.3% from Feb 1999 figures. The surplus is attributed to the surging exports to Asia. To correct the trade gap, the country's principal trading partners, particularly the US, are strongly suggesting enhancing demand in Japan.
