Brisk sales of Hi-Fi models propel Sanyo's VCR business
Article Abstract:
Sanyo Electric Co Ltd is increasing its marketing efforts for the Hi-Fi models of its console VCRs in the face of high demand for VCRs. Hi-Fi models comprise 35% of its total volume, a figure which Sanyo intends to increase to 40% in 1999. The firm forecasts that total global demand for console VCRs will increase 1% while camcorder demand will rise 4%. While Sanyo intends to introduce more top-end VCR models, it will also closely monitor economic developments which could affect demand in major markets and keep a close watch on competition from Video CDs and DVD.
