Data converters
Article Abstract:
Advances continue in the development of monolithic, hybrid, and modular analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters but the differences among the three technologies are becoming wider. The segmentation of the data converter types has followed the advance of microprocessor technology. In general, monolithic converters have served in low-end applications, hybrid in midrange, and modular in high-end uses.

Computers and peripherals
Article Abstract:
Low-cost computer terminals are now on the market for as low as $500 for OEMs and $700 for end-users. Most of these products are smart terminals with features only available on high-priced models last year. Manufacturers achieved these economies by combining vertical integration, greater use of LSI and improved fabrication techniques in offshore assembly.
