Alps Electric Company Ltd has unveiled a pointing device for personal digital assitants and notebook computers that features both a pointing stick function and a touch pad. The company's Dual Point ER960 pointing device features an interface technology that permits both the pointing device and the touch pad to function within the same environment. Alps Electric's ER960 can be installed in notebook computers without losing any previous functionalities.

Kyushu Matsushita Electric Company Ltd has introduced the document scanner models KV-S2055WN, KV-S6040WN and KV-S6045WN, which can perform double- sided scanning and double-transmission detection. The KV-S2055WN retails for 1.2 million yen or $10,000 and scans at 50 ppm while the KV-S6040WN sells for 980,000 yen or $8,167 and the KV-S6045WN at 120,000 yen or $1,000. The last two models scan at 45ppm and offer automatic document- size detection.

JV2-130 color plotters
Article Abstract:
Mimaki Engineering Company Ltd of Japan has introduced a new color ink-jet plotter in 1999. The new JV2-130 plotter can work with formats of up to 1,300 mm wide and uses one of the first pigment ink that feature excellent color development similar to that of dyes. The ink is also weather- resistant. The plotter is available with a printer driver incorporating a raster image printing software.
