Hitachi subsidiary aims to cut lead times, step up in-house work
Article Abstract:
Hitachi Electronic Products Malaysia (HEPM) produces color TV sets and VCR units sold in Japan under the Hitachi brand. HEPM produces about 100,000 VCRs, 13,000 color TVs and 32,000 boards for assembly each month. Since 1998, it has started the manufacture of multiple-system projection TVs with signal conversion functions, which are to be sold in Asian markets. HEPM also makes a VCR with the TapeNavi cueing function, which won an award in Europe.

25C-FA1 flat-screen color TVs
Article Abstract:
Sharp Corp's 25C-FA1 flat-screen color TV offers clear images right to the corners of the screen. Adopting an On-Off timer to save power, the new product consumes only 0.3W in the standby mode. Using Sharp's proprietary Moderate Brightness feature, the 25-inch 25C-FA1 consumes 129W in operation, measures 503 X 648 X 450mm and weighs 33kg. The product has twin speakers that measure 8cm in diameter.

Matsuhita Electronics Corp (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd has formed an alliance with Matsushita Television and Network Systems Co (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd to integrate production of flat-screen cathode ray tubes and color televisions.
