Japan's cellular phone makers re-key global strategies
Article Abstract:
Japanese cellular telephone manufacturers are bolstering their strategies for the global market in anticipation of worldwide demand that will call for 200 million cellular telephones per year between 2000 through 2001. Analysts reported that the global cellular telephone market totaled 140 million-150 million units in FY 1998. Some analysts predict that this figure will surpass the 200-million mark in FY 1999. Most manufacturers foresee only slight growth prospects in the Japanese cellular telephone market in FY 1999.
