Advanced compression, shock-proof features add to MD allure
Article Abstract:
MiniDiscs (MDs) are finding growing acceptance outside Japan as fast and cost-effective media for recording electronic information. Fueling the interest in MDs is their ability to store large amount of data and withstand vibration and physical shock force. Storing huge data on an MD is made possible by an advanced sound compression technology called Adaptive Transform Acoustic Coding. Shock-resistance is due to a newly developed shock-proof memory technology.
