Matsushita sees home TV as center of digital entertainment

Matsushita Electric Industrial Co Ltd forecasts that home televisions will become the centerpience of digital entertainment networks in the future, offering standard television programs, interactive information services and digital broadcast programming. This will bring together audio-video, networking, computer, semiconductor and display technologies in the 21st century. In anticipating this trend, work is well underway in planning, designing and producing the equipment needed to undertake all of these efforts.

Matsushita packs high-tech advances in portable MD recorders

Japan-based Matsushita Electric Industrial Co Ltd has launched its new SJ- MR100 portable MiniDisc (MD) player/recorder to capture a significant share of the growing market for MD recorders. The SJ-MR100 measures 18.9 mm X 84 mm X 77 mm and weighs roughly 136 gm, or 161 gms with rechargeable batteries. It is one of the smallest and lightest portable MD record-and- replay MD sets in the market. The product also offers continuous reproduction for 25 hours and continuous recording for 12 hours.

Victor Co of Japan Ltd introduces its AV-42PD1 42-in plasma wide television that features a built-in tuner and allows for a high contrast and wide viewing angle. The product comes with a D4 terminal that works with broadcast satellite digital broadcasting. Also the television features a Capsulated Color Filter PDP that offers sharp, easy-to-see images even in bright rooms. Wiring of the tuner and setting stand are not needed, which results in more streamlined placing.
