Matsushita's fuel cell promises energy savings in co-generation
Article Abstract:
Matsushita Electric Industrial Co has been developing a fuel cell that may provide significant energy savings for co-generation systems. The product is called a polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEFC) system. Matsushita has developed a very compact stack that can generate 1kW of electricity in a 1-li body, offering a maximum power of 5kW. It has also developed a prototype PEFC co-generation system that combines a PEFC stack and a hydrogen generator with a heat-recovery unit, a blower and other components. The protype can generate 1.5kW of power from a 320 x 90 x 900 mm x W x H device.
