RD-2000 DVD video recorder

Toshiba Corp introduces its RD-2000 DVD video recorder that features a 30GB hard disc drive and a 4.7GB DVD-RAM drive. The recorder can store up to 33.5 hrs of video images. The hard disc, which allows greater flexibility, can record 29 hrs, and the DVD-RAM can record 4.5 hrs. RD- 2000 DVD, which costs $2,455, has four recording modes available. The product's divide chapter function forms onscreen thumbnails for each chapter or section. Its MPEG-2 encorder supports recording at a transfer rate of up to 9.8Mbps.

Sony plans spring release of video service using 360 degree cameras
Article Abstract:
Sony Corp will unveil a comprehensive video production service using its 360-degree cameras by spring of 2001. The new service would combine the cameras, stitching and reconstruction systems as well as all processes from photography through authoring. The 360-degree cameras were used in the development of Space Venus, a musical software for PlayStation 2. The cameras allow users of PlayStation 2 standing in the center to experience 360-degee images. They can also zoom-in and zoom-out whenever they like.

Sony jump-starts efforts for quick-charging camcorders
Article Abstract:
Sony Corp will release in spring 1998 an addition to the 1997 Stamina Handycam series boasting quick battery recharging. The engineers of the Japanese firm enhanced all sections of the camcorder by improving the circuit integration and heightening circuit efficiency, specifically for the motor and lens-driving mechanisms. Sony's engineers also developed an innovative battery, which shows the remaining power capacity.
