Red lasers for recordable DVDs
Article Abstract:
Sanyo Electric Company Ltd has introduced a new red semiconductor laser with an optical output of 80 mW and a current rating of 140mA during 80mW operation while attaining an oscillation of 660 nm. The laser also has a threshold value of 40 mA and beam spread angles of 8.5 degrees horizontal and 2.1 degrees vertical. Sanyo used its own crystal growth technology on the laser, resulting in extremely reliable and fine-quality AlGaInP crystals.
