Sanken drives onward with car semiconductors

Sanken Electric Company Ltd is teaming up with International Rectifier Corp, Analog Services Inc and Allegro Microsystems for the development of semiconductors to be used in automobiles. The company sold 12 billion yen worth of automotive semiconductors in 1998 and expects the figure will double by 2000. Sanken believes that issues concerning energy savings, exhaust gas emissions and safety will foster demand for automotive semiconductors.

Fujitsu expands engineering force at chip center
Article Abstract:
Fujitsu will double the number of design engineers involved in LSI work at the Chip Implementation Center in Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture. The number would rise to 80 engineers by the middle of 1999, which Fujitsu hopes to increase to 180 within one to two years. The company has also developed a system for distributing proprietary cores and has also started conducting demonstration tests for the development of system LSIs.
